8 founders. 8 nights. 1 giant think-tank.
Attending the recent "Art of Mondays" (AOM) Founder Residency in Lombok, Indonesia, was a deep dive into personal and professional growth set amongst tropical surroundings. Hosted within a Tampah Hills Villa, the residency brought together eight founders from around the world, each striving to elevate their lifestyle-focused businesses. These residencies are more than just a retreat; they serve as a thinktank where people with big dreams and ambitions come to connect, share knowledge, and gain tools to take their work—and themselves—to the next level.
The Lombok residency was a structure of spontaneity, balance, work and exploration. Each day was filled with sessions that covered essential strategies for both business evolution and personal growth. We explored everything from refining our brand missions and solidifying marketing approaches to expanding our leadership and mindset techniques. These workshops were all geared toward helping each founder not just build a business, but craft a meaningful, impactful journey.
One of the most valuable parts of the residency is the network itself. The intimacy of living and working in a shared space allowed us to form genuine connections quickly. There’s a unique bond that forms when people live together, share meals, discuss ideas, and immerse themselves in each other's stories. Beyond learning about each other’s businesses, we formed friendships and partnerships with each other.
Beyond the work and learning, the AOM residency offered a chance to experience Lombok’s incredible natural beauty. When we weren’t collaborating or workshopping, we’d head out as a group, training and surfing together across Indonesia's breathtaking beaches. This wasn’t just a residency; it was an immersion into the heart of Lombok, where we got a feel for the local culture and landscapes that make this place so inspiring.
By the end of the eight days, we walked away with actionable strategies for growth, new insights into business, and a set of lasting relationships. The AOM Founder Residency was a powerful reminder of the impact that intentional spaces for ambitious people can have.
